About Me

P.J. Jones,
Your Lead Consultant

Helping you Unlearn

Hi, I'm P.J. CEO and Founder here. I am confident my progressive experience in diversity education and inclusive leadership makes me a formidable practitioner to lead your team along this journey. I have experienced first-hand how important it is to provide safe, welcoming and affirming spaces in both educational and professional settings. Having worked with educational and governmental institutions for over a decade, I understand how to work and communicate with individuals across various backgrounds around issues of diversity, equity, inclusion and access. I look forward to working closely with your amazing team, but first, let me tell you a little about myself.

I am an educator, seeker, consultant and a story teller. I'm a proud Detroit native, born and raised in the city I love. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University and my Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.  While at Western, I worked primarily with fraternities and sororities.  It was during this time, I found my passion for diversity education based off of the need to create an inclusive Greek community. After grad school, I moved to the great state of Texas to begin my role as a Diversity Education Specialist within the Department of Multicultural Services at Texas A&M University.  I worked with student organizations and campus partners to create customized workshops and trainings that developed and strengthened their organizations. I then transitioned southeast to the University of Florida to work as the Assistant Director of Multicultural and Diversity Affairs where I was directly responsible for developing and implementing workshops and trainings for the campus community.

In 2017, while still in my role within higher education,  I began answering the calls from universities across the country to consult and be a strategic partner in their organization's growth. I even traveled to Kaffrine, Senegal to work one on one with the vocational school's leadership. This was the start of my independent consulting career. Since then, I've been fortunate to join the dynamic Institute for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Management (I-DIEM) team as the Chief Inclusion Strategist and Director of Training and Education. After five years at the University of Florida, I transitioned to a new role as the Inclusion Manager with the local utility company for the City of Gainesville. In 2021, I started my career as a full-time Global Inclusion Consultant, where I have been afforded the opportunity to design and delivery dynamic diversity, equity and inclusion workshops and trainings .

When I'm not helping talented teams Unpack and Unlearn, you can find me cycling on a bike trail, building houses with Habitat for Humanity, hiking in nature or headlining karaoke night!
